BFA 3 Experience Design and Production – School of Theater

Briana Newson is a BFA3 costume designer excited to bring her love for storytelling to the stage for the first time as Scenic Designer and Art Director. Her favorite projects consist of Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, Marvello and the Technicolor Technician, and CalArts Latin Fest Fashion Show. She has worked an array of positions on these projects including Costume Design, Stage Management , and Creative Direction. As she continues to hone her craft, she’s poised to make waves in the world of Costume Design with her unique vision and dedication as well as trying to understand the other pieces to the puzzle of theater. She also wants to thank to the entire team as this experience would not exist without their hard work and dedication!

I’m a designer with a passion for blending creativity and practicality in everything I do. Whether it’s bringing immersive productions to life or building games, I love pushing the boundaries of storytelling while still making sure everything works smoothly. Right now, I’m finishing up my degree at CalArts, where I’ve been diving deep into entertainment design and finding ways to merge technology with engaging experiences. I’m all about creating fun, interactive moments that connect with people—and making sure it’s all doable in the real world.
